Twisted Hazel ‘Crone’ stick
Nature can sometimes create sticks that need nothing more than gentle seasoning and sympathetic finishing to create the perfect walking stick.
This is a fantastic example of a twisted ‘crone’ stick. Honeysuckle has constricted the branch as it grew, creating the winding corkscrew shape that can be seen in this stick. The handle still displays the remnant of honeysuckle and the twist creates a very comfortable handle. The twist continues lower down creating a corcrscrew down to the bottom of the stick.
The stick has been finished with Danish oil and beeswax polish and has been left uncut. A brass ferrule will be fitted when the stick has been cut to the desired length.
